Ksitigarbha (Earth Store Bodhisattva）， It is named after its “calm and unmoving, like the earth, deep contemplation, like a secret”.

According to Buddhist scriptures, Ksitigarbha has rescued her mother who suffered in hell several times; And since the distant tribulation, he has constantly vowed to save all sentient beings, especially those in hell, from sin and suffering. So this Bodhisattva is widely spread in Buddhism with both the virtues of “great filial piety” and “great vows”. As a result, it is widely revered as the “Great Vow Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva” and has become one of the four great bodhisattvas in Chinese Buddhism.

The Ksitigarbha monks who came to China during the Tang Dynasty to seek the Dharma are considered to be incarnations of Earth store Bodhisattva. The Jiuhua Mountain in Anhui Province, where this monk from the Silla royal family resides, is also regarded as a place of worship for Earth store Bodhisattva, and has become one of the four famous mountains of Chinese Buddhism, with a prosperous lineage for thousands of years.
