Nine Dragons Guan Gong – Guardian Deity of Buddhist Dharma

Guan Gong, also known as Guan Yu (160–220 CE), was a legendary general from China’s Three Kingdoms period, revered as a symbol of loyalty, righteousness, and martial prowess. The title “Nine Dragons Guan Gong” (九龙关公) combines his deified status with the auspicious motif of “nine dragons.” In Chinese culture, the number nine (九) represents supreme power and eternity, while dragons symbolize divine authority and protection.
