Translated into Chinese by Tripitaka Master Xuanzang

Standard Full English Translation (widely used in temples & academic circles)

Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva, while deeply practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, saw that the five aggregates are all empty, and transcended all suffering and distress.

Shariputra, form is no different from emptiness; emptiness is no different from form. Form itself is emptiness, emptiness itself is form. Sensation, perception, formation and consciousness are likewise the same.

Shariputra, all dharmas bear the mark of emptiness: they are neither born nor destroyed, neither defiled nor pure, neither increasing nor decreasing.

Therefore, within emptiness there is no form, no sensation, no perception, no formation, no consciousness.

There are no eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body or mind;

no sights, sounds, smells, tastes, touches or mental objects;

no realm of sight, extending all the way to no realm of mental consciousness.

There is no ignorance, nor the end of ignorance;

continuing through no old age and death, nor the end of old age and death.

There is no suffering, no origin of suffering, no cessation of suffering, no path to cessation.

There is no wisdom, nor anything to attain.

Because there is nothing to attain, Bodhisattvas rely on the Perfection of Wisdom, and their minds are free of all obstructions.

Free of obstructions, they have no fear.

They depart from all distorted delusions and reach ultimate Nirvana.

All Buddhas of past, present and future rely on the Perfection of Wisdom and attain Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi — Unsurpassed, Complete, Perfect Enlightenment.

Thus we know the Perfection of Wisdom is a great sacred mantra, a great illuminating mantra, an unsurpassed mantra, an unequalled mantra. It can eliminate all suffering, true and unfalse.

Therefore we recite the Mantra of Prajñāpāramitā, the mantra says:

Gate, gate, paragate, parasamgate, bodhi svāhā!
